Whether you are incorporating tropicals or using cut succulents, pumpkins or gourds, this seasons arrangements capture autumn’s unique and playful character.

Botanical Guide to Holiday Gift Giving

The instantly recognizable poinsettia plays a central role in scores of our seasonal holiday displays. We work with growers year round to ensure we have the highest quality and best possible assortment of poinsettias, kalanchoe and other colorful flowering plants popular during the holiday season. Today, poinsettias are available in a huge assortment of colors and styles. Speckled and rosette varieties with names like ‘Ice Punch’ and ‘Winter Rose’ have joined the familiar red, white and pink standards. Non-traditional embellishments such as glitter add a twist and unique top-dressing and containers help transform a simple holiday display into something exciting and unusual.

Seasonal Plants

Rosemary topiaries or miniature Norfolk Pine arrive dressed up for the holidays and are perfect as gifts for friends, coworkers, clients and employees. White Phalaenopsis Orchids are elegant statement plants perfectly suited for the holidays. Details such as ice branches, seasonal top dressing and ribbon create a bespoke, professional holiday presentation that will be remembered long after.

Succulents and Terrariums

Succulent plants and glass terrariums are funky, unusual options that turn heads and are sure to earn you ‘unique gift’ points. Succulents in the right container can provide a modern and gender neutral gift while terrariums are a distinct curiosity unto themselves and provide something memorable and exciting.

Floral Arrangements

Fresh seasonal floral arrangements can provide drama and flair for the Holidays unlike any other option. Overflowing with blooms and scented greens, floral designers have the unique ability to capture the Holiday spirit using the freshness the season has to offer. Whether a bouquet of bold red amaryllis, or a traditional urn full of pine and seasonal berries, floral arrangements can be customized to reflect the likes and aesthetics of the gift-giver and recipient.

Silk, Replica + Preserved

Another option not to be missed is silk arrangements. Make sure you’re only using top quality silk and replica plant material. Use a company who stands behind their product with a replacement guarantee, and ask lots of questions about what is being recommended to you. Using replica products, designers are able create in ways not possible with live material. This results in outstanding festive design. When treated well and stored properly these arrangements can last years as a consistent reminder of the gifts original intention.

Wreaths + Décor

There are many ways to spread the holiday cheer by creating décor that captures the spirit of the season. A live or replica wreath could be a non-denominational seasonal creation or jazzed up by using a Christmas theme. A container with seasonal branching can be adorned with pine and décor at its base and delivered as a unique and high end gift.

Every year, Blondie’s Treehouse creates gorgeous, unique seasonal displays. We love to brainstorm, bounce ideas off one another, and customize for our clients. The holidays are right around the corner. What can we create for you?

Floral Trends 2014

This year’s floral trends promise to bring flashes of color, lush blossoms, dainty groupings and the integration of natural elements.

We’ve turned to IFD for their ever present ability to have their finger on the pulse.

Revival

This trend blends vintage fashion and art-deco with modern pop culture.

Encompassing nostalgic pastel hues of mint, blush-pinks and peach contrasting with accents of black and gold, compliment and intensify color.

Opulent and abundant lush groupings with clean silhouettes, contoured blooms such as antherium, orchids, calla lilies, compliment the wistful textures of softer astilbe, garden roses and peonies.

Arrangements are composed in high sheen containers and bold geometric architectural vessels as well as vintage crystal and mercury glass.

Grand Lodge

In this trend, luxe meets rustic, elegance fuses with mountain simplicity.

Natural materials blend with metals, glass and crystal that have luster and sheen.

Cream, stone, mossy greens, chestnut and blue-greys are the dominant colors of Grand Lodge.

Huge, staggered frames–either gilded or made of moss, or birch, transform flowers into works of art.

Grouping of found objects and romantic combinations of sweet peas, hydrangeas, clematis, luecadendron and dahlias are arranged in cut crystal containers, warm silver and china vases.

Confetti

Expressive color, bright hues and bold patterns define this trend.

A full color spectrum is gathered in daring and wild combinations such as tangerine, coral, fuchsia, pops of neon, turquoise and bright red.

Graduated tones of ombre and bold color blocking patterns are created with the intensity of poppies, gerberas, carnations, zinnias, sunflowers and proteas.

Bright Geometric vessels and container groupings keep this trend engaging and powerful.

Aquaculture

The allure of water with its flowing lines and reflective quality are the inspiration of this trend.

The colors are both soothing and intense and range from bright turquoise and rich indigo to the deep purple and lilac to stormy grey.

Blue delphinium, agapanthus, dark blue hydrangea and grape hyacinth combine with alliums, nigella, succulents and textured greens such as eucalyptus and Tillandsia.

Containers have organic finishes that include bubble shapes, textural ceramics with scalloped edges and the smooth curve of glass. Silver gray and weathered metals blend with polished river stone and driftwood to complete this look.

Daria Snyder has been an interior plantscape designer for nearly 30 years.  She develops & manages large national projects for Blondie’s Treehouse, Inc. based in New York. Working with Blondie’s, the sixth largest interiorscape company in the United States, she handles everything from holiday design to interior plantscapes, hotels to shopping venues. Based in Denver CO she is centrally located to service all national accounts.

Daria uses Autograph Foliages in a big way. Recently she was in charge of a project for a major hotel chain with many sites.  Daria says that our succulents provided the perfect elements for her design.  “They are so real both to the eye and to the touch”, she said.  Included was a 12′ by 6′ green wall of succulents, along with other elements like a custom Polyblend® podocarpus. “I love the non-fade part of the Polyblend®,” said Daria, “from shape to size and coloration, the plants were perfect.”

“For another project we created long trough planters in a number of food courts and filled them with succulents top-dressed with Autograph’s green moss. The end result for all of these projects has exceeded our demands and the client was thrilled”, said Daria.  “Autograph is my go-to resource for replica plants as well as holiday material.  I can always count on their customer service, the variety, and the ‘realness’ of their products.  I have so many choices and they custom fabricate whatever else I need.”

“One thing I love is that no matter what the exterior plant material palette is in any part of the country, they have the material available.  So, if I am working in the California area, the Southwest, or Northeast, they have the right artificial/replica plants for the geography.  To do what I do, I usually need huge variety and large quantities.  Autograph fills all my needs. Blondie’s does a lot of huge projects and when we need replica or holiday, Autograph fills all our needs whether it is a few plants or thousands.  It is great to have such an outstanding vendor to always be able to count upon.  Thanks Autograph.”

The Modern Concrete Planter

These are not your traditional garden urns, with their faux drapery and Greco-Roman patterning. Not that traditional style doesn’t have its appropriate time and space. But there is a whole new generation of concrete planters that are appealing to an edgier market and contemporary landscape design.

Made with modern silhouettes and sleek finishes, we see gentle sloping profiles as well as hard geometric lines. In a variety of sizes, from small accent pieces to large containers, these products offer a vessel for everything from a low succulent bowl to large trees and shrubs.

Also gone are the overweight, splitting, chipping, cracking character of older concrete pots. The new generation of planters are reinforced with the fiber of steel or glass making them lighter and resistant to shrinkage and cracking caused by temperature change and inclement weather. With the improved structural integrity comes a new durability and with almost half the weight of solid concrete.

Available in a number of finishes and a variety of staining options, these containers provide an understated yet notable presence in today’s garden design.
