What happens when the green industry becomes the creative brief?
This year, Blondie’s Treehouse partnered with AGENCY, a student-led initiative at NYC’s High School of Art and Design, on a project that gave students the opportunity to engage with BTH as a real-world client.
The collaboration asked students to look at plants not just as objects or decoration, but as living materials that shape how spaces look, feel, and function. Through the project, students learned about BTH’s work across interior and exterior environments and explored the role plants play in the built environment, from workplaces and gathering spaces to the everyday places people move through and inhabit.
From there, the students brought the concept back into their own creative disciplines. Across the school’s majors, they interpreted what they learned through their individual mediums, translating ideas around horticulture, design, sustainability, and the benefits of plants into original student work.
For BTH, the partnership reflects an important part of our community work: giving back through education, supporting student creativity, and helping introduce future artists and designers to the green industry. It also offered a chance to show how plants are connected to more than landscape alone. They are part of how we experience interior spaces, outdoor environments, architecture, and daily life.
We are proud to partner with AGENCY and honored to share the student work created through this year’s collaboration.
